JAVA – Travel Information

The island of Java is the most densely populated island of Indonesia. Therefore, travelers will find a variety of airports and seaports and a well developed infrastructure. Very recommendable are flights to the airports of Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya. These airports are relatively modern and are evenly distributed over the island of Java. So you can reach each destination on Java through these airports relatively easy. For travelling on the island itself a well-developed rail network offers many connections. However, a trip by train takes relatively long. For the 600km from Jakarta to Yogyakarta it takes about 12 hours travelling. On the other hand side, an unbeatable value for money for travelers. The described route costs about € 18 per person. Also, many trains run over night, so you do not lose any precious holiday time, and quite comfortable seats allow sleeping through the whole ride. Another recommendation, expecially for experienced Indonesia travellers, is a cruise with on of the Pelni cruise ships. Completely new views on the country and its people can be gained by taking a cruise between the many islands of the archipelago.
