Bedugul is a favorite destination on the lake Danau Bratan. Lake Bratan is surrounded by wooded hills and lies about 1,400 feet above sea level.
Here the temperatures are very pleasant and the area is considered a sanctuary in the highlands of Bali.
You will find beautiful hiking trails and many water sports like water skiing and parasailing.
If you want to go out in the evening, however, you should bring a light jacket - it can get chilly at night.
On the banks of the crater lake the temple Pura Ulun Danu Bratan is located, a four-part temple complex which is located partly on offshore islets in the lake.
The temple is very secretive, especially in the morning hours,
if there is fog on the water and most of the tourists
still peacefully slumbering in their hotel beds. The temple was built in the 17th Century and is dedicated to
Dewi Danu, the goddess of water.
Travelers should not miss the attractions of the Bali Botanical Gardens. The gardens offer an extensive collection of trees and flowers, including wild orchids, on an area that covers 150 hectares. However, avoid to visit the Botanical Gardens at Sunday and public holidays, as they are very popular at Balinese families.
Bedugul is located on the main north-south road on Bali. There are frequent connections from Ubung terminal in Denpasar and from Sukasada terminal in Singaraja.
